From the recording Far Hills
This reel floated around as a must-have on the album since we first heard it. There are several versions that we were particularly influenced by, especially that of Paddy Egan on the album Nights in Shanaglish, as well as a rendition by Páraic Mac Donnchadha and Cormac Begley. Over time, our take warped into a loud-fast American thumper. That’s no accident, though. We designed it to reflect the explosive, nonstop, devil-may-care consumption that came with the industrial revolution. Sure, we have all this coal to burn, and there’s a seemingly infinite amount down there - what’s the worst that could happen?
