From the recording Far Hills

Had it not been for the foundational influence of songs like Wild Mountain Thyme, this album would never have come to be. In workshopping the tune, it came to represent for us a love letter to home. For a few of us, that is New Jersey and its rare sprawling forest called the Pine Barrens. Exploring the Pine Barrens conjures tranquil feelings of nostalgia and simultaneous timelessness akin to the valley of self reflection at the end of one’s life.

Nathan Bishop: 5-string fiddle, vocals
Connor Brogan: vocals, acoustic guitar
Rob Helsel: vocals, Spanish guitar

Lyrics

Oh the summertime is comin, and the trees are sweetly bloomin
And the wild mountain thyme grows around the blooming heather

Will ye go, lassie, go?
And we'll all go together, to pluck wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather

Will ye go, lassie, go?
I will build me love a tower, near yon pure and crystal fountain
And on it I will pile, all the flowers of the mountain

Will ye go, lassie, go?
I will wander barren pines, to the charmed valley dreary
To return with 'er spoils, to the bower o' my dearie

Will ye go, lassie, go?
Oh my sweetheart if I'm gone, would you surely find another
Would you pluck mountain thyme, all around the blooming heather

Will ye go, lassie, go?
And we'll all go together, to pluck wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
